Helping members to explore the Southeast Asian market
On the afternoon of Saturday, November 26, I bumped into Mr. McDermott, President of Guangdong Sewing Equipment Chamber of Commerce, at Baiyun Airport, who had just returned from Vietnam. He was in a hurry and rushing to his next destination. It was the first time for Guangdong Chamber of Commerce to co-host an overseas industry exhibition. President Mak attached great importance to the exhibition and paid great attention to the exhibition recruitment and pre-show preparation.
By co-organizing the 16th Vietnam International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition (VTG2016) with Hong Kong Xuntong Exhibition Company and Taiwan Zhanzhao Company, it is one of the priorities of the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce in 2016 to help members and industry enterprises to develop the Southeast Asian market. It is hoped that by enhancing exchanges and cooperation between industry enterprises and Southeast Asian countries and regions, the Chamber will accelerate the cultivation of new competitive advantages for Guangdong and domestic sewing equipment enterprises and actively cope with the economic downward pressure. Strengthen industry exchange and mutual
In addition to assisting enterprises to expand overseas markets, the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce has also done a lot of practical work in industry exchanges in the past year. In early May, President Mak led a 13-member delegation from Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Ningbo and Taizhou for a four-day visit to the sewing equipment industry in both places. In addition, as one of the organizers of the "16th Vietnam International Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition VTG" in November, the purpose of the trip was to promote the exhibition to local enterprises. In September, Mr. Mak, together with Mr. Liang Fuxiang, Chairman of the Chamber, and Mr. Shao Lishi, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the Chamber, were invited to Jiangsu "New Smart" Garment Equipment Exhibition. The Jiangsu "New Smart" Garment Equipment Exhibition was organized by Jiangsu Sewing Equipment Industry Association, Zhejiang Sewing Machinery Industry Association and Shanghai Sewing Machinery Industry Association. Chairman Liang, Chairman Mai and Secretary General Shao visited the booths of sewing equipment exhibitors and had in-depth communication with the exhibitors to learn more about the exhibits' characteristics and business development.
As we all know, in the past two years, the garment industry is facing the bottleneck period of industrial restructuring and transformation and upgrading, and the growth rate of market demand for sewing equipment is no longer as high as in previous years, but has come to a new normal of stable growth. In such an industrial background, Guangdong Chamber of Commerce strengthens the communication and interaction with counterparts in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, which is conducive to information exchange between industry enterprises, realizing the docking between industry chains and promoting business cooperation, which is also an important function of the Chamber as an industry exchange platform.

In 2015, the Chamber of Commerce has been recognized by the Guangdong Provincial Civil Affairs Department as a Class 5A social organization, which is the government's recognition of the Chamber of Commerce in five aspects: "running the Chamber according to the law, standardized operation, capacity building, functioning and social evaluation". On November 3, the Chamber of Commerce passed the Guangdong Federation of Industry and Commerce (Chamber of Commerce)'s preliminary study on the reform of business associations. On November 3, the Chamber of Commerce was recognized as an "Excellent Chamber of Commerce Model Site" by the Guangdong Federation of Industry and Commerce (SCCI) in the reform of business associations, taking into account its performance and role in the reform of the Chamber of Commerce. On October 17, the Chamber was elected as the Vice Chairman of China Sewing Machinery Association (CSMA) and Chairman Liang Fuxiang was appointed as the Vice Chairman of CSMA at the Beijing Conference. The Chamber's Secretariat was awarded the "12th Five-Year Plan" Innovation Team Award by China Sewing Machinery Association, and it is the only team among the national industry associations to receive this award, which is the industry's recognition and affirmation of the Chamber's work.
Strengthen the expertise of industry organizations
As the market economy continues to develop, industry organizations will play a greater and greater role. As leaders of trade organizations, they must also keep their expertise updated to provide more professional services to their members and the industry. On July 23, Mr. McDermott and more than 80 presidents of star-rated chambers of commerce and associations in Guangdong Province attended the third workshop for presidents of star-rated chambers of commerce and associations in Guangdong Province, jointly organized by the United Front Work Department of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce. This workshop is the key work of the "Guangdong Star Chamber of Commerce Association Leader Training Project" to further strengthen the construction of the leader team of chambers of commerce and associations mainly for the non-public economy. The courses arranged for this training can be divided into three parts: theoretical lectures, policy interpretation and experience sharing, all of which are knowledge that entrepreneurs, especially presidents, need to master urgently.
